The Lewiston Fire Department was established in 1901 and currently has a full roster at 32 volunteers. The Lewiston Fire Department provides fire suppression and vehicle extrication for approximately 4600 residents in 125 square miles. In these 125 square miles are the townships of Fremont, Hart, Hillsdale, Norton, Utica, and Warren and cities of Lewiston, Stockton, and Utica. We also have an active Fire Prevention program which provides fire safety instruction to many school aged children in the four schools in and around Lewiston.
If you would like to inquire about joining the fire department please contact Lewiston City Hall and they will direct you to the appropriate person.
On Monday September 23 the Lewiston Fire Department recognized 2 students for placing in the 2018 MN State Fire Chief’s Poster Contest. This contest was conducted in the Fall of 2018 and winners were not announced by the State until June of this year. Due to the students not being in session we waited for school to start up again so their classmates could congratulate them! Leo Hedlund finished in 3rd Place for the K-1st Grade Division. He received a $25 check and had his name printed in the June edition of the Fire Chief’s magazine. Alyssa Hansen finished with an Honorable Mention in the 2nd-3rd Grade Division. She received a $10 check and also had her name printed in the Fire Chief’s Magazine. The Lewiston Fire Dept. congratulates both Leo and Alyssa for representing us at the State Contest! We would also like to remind students that the 2019 Poster Contest will be starting shortly and information will be sent out to the schools within the next few weeks.
